Doris Geddes Silk Organza Cocktail Dress

Description Doris Geddes silk organza cocktail dress Vintage 1950s. Doris Geddes was an Australian fashion designer who ran The Little Shop in Raffles Hotel in Singapore for 30 years from about 1947. Elizabeth Taylor was one of her regular customers. I have been fortunate to purchase a few of her stunning samples from the 1950’s. All unworn. This fabulous black silk organza cocktail dress with flesh coloured bodice lining and taffeta underskirt is a one off. Perfect for display. The bodice is a princess shape raglan style with deep v neck style and short sleeves. The front of the bodice features a thin horizontal organza stripe insert between the seam lines and a trim of black guipure lace has been stitched down the seam lines at the front. Attached at the waist is a full gathered organza over skirt over a full flesh coloured underskirt and flesh coloured taffeta petticoat. Bust 89cm Waist 32cm Length 106cm Astonishing condition. Three teeny holes to the organza on one shoulder(see photos)- plus the organza has slightly come away from the lining on the back neck. The rest is excellent. Reflected in the price. Rare opportunity to purchase a piece of fashion history. Doris Geddes silk organza cocktail dress
